Outdoor Rifle and Pistol Ranges
Hours – dawn to dusk
Two rifle and four pistol ranges are available to paid SCSA members and the general public who gain access by paying a $10.00/day rental fee. (Link to SCSA membership) The key provided gives access to these ranges and no Range Safety Officer (RSO) need be present during use. SCSA operates by the honor system on these ranges but requires that all (Link to SCSA General Safety Rules) (Link to SOP Outdoor Ranges) are followed, including the NRA’s Basic Firearms Rules:
- NO handling of firearms when someone is down range.
- Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction.
- Always keep the firearm unloaded until you are ready to fire.
- Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
Rifle ranges 1&2 have target backboards located at 50, 100, 200, 300 and (400 yds. range2). In addition, 2/3rds IPSC silhouettes and 12” by 10” oval kill zone steel targets located at 200, 300 and (400 yards range2). New to both rifle ranges are steel prairie dog targets at 300 and (400 yds. range 2) for shooters to test their metal on. ONLY SCSA STEEL TARGETS ARE ALLOWED, NO STEEL TARGETS CLOSER THAN 200 YDS. NO ARMOR PIERCING AMMUNITION
Pistol ranges include a 25 yd., 50 ft., 30 ft. and 21 ft. with target backboards and reactive self-healing targets. NO STEEL TARGETS ARE ALLOWED ON THE PISTOL RANGES.
NO SHOTGUNS OR HANDGUNS WITH SHOTSHELLS ALLOWED ON ANY RIFLE OR PISTOL RANGES!
Various shooting events are held every year on the Outdoor Ranges including free public sight in days prior to hunting seasons. Check the (Link to calendar) for dates and events.
